Whilst our volunteer editors will do their best to ensure our events listings are as up to date and accurate as possible; with the fast pace of how things are changing, it is inevitable that some will slip through the net. If you are planning on travelling for larger events, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly to avoid disappointment. We are putting in place new measures to give event organisers a friendly reminder to see if they wish to remove cancelled events, so we're sorry if it looks a bit bare in here :(
If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for free, professional advice.

Tree planting in Gilsland, Brampton, on Saturday 18th January 2025.
Come and help plant trees in a community tree planting day in Gilsland, Brampton. The hosts, Natural World Fund, continue their mission to restore local nature by planting 2,000 trees along a series of gullies for the benefit of wildlife.
It will be a fun day of volunteers from local communities coming together to restore the land on the Northumberland-Cumbria border.
When they say local volunteers from local communities, they mean people like you!

They hope you can come along, and if you can then why not ask a friend too. It’s wonderful to connect to the landscape in this way, and with the many like-minded people helping our local wildlife.
They will plant a variety of native trees including Willow, Alder, Hawthorn, Rowan, Aspen and Birch.
The planting area is less than quarter of a mile walk through farmland, up onto moorland, where they will be planting the trees along a series of gullies.
Everyone is welcome to participate, although there are some access limitations, so if you have questions about this do get in touch.
They will provide all the tools and guidance, but please bring your own gloves if you have them along with a packed lunch and hot drink. Wear sturdy boots and appropriate clothing.
